Call HD and find out how expensive their painted parts are, especially if they are in a candy or anything besides a solid color are expensive.
So a trade with you owing them some cash and them doing all the work. Yeah I would do it.
But I paint vintage sports cars for a living so I know what it takes, time and money to get a great paint job.

I wouldn't pay anyone 1500 bucks to do the swap as I'm pretty handy and that work really is simple. Couldn't take more than an hour or two. In your case all you'd need is one handy friend. Should be easy to come by.
Before I would consider $4520 plus my tins I would consider pricing out the set you want from Board Tracker. You'd have to purchase the whole thing individually but would probably save a ton of money.
Would also keep your set for the day you want to sell the bike or maybe sell it all for 2-3K...

There is no way on planet earth I could strip a touring bike and replace tins in an hour or two and I’ve spent my whole life turning wrenches. Hell I’ve pulled my current one apart more times than I can count and just one bike doing it carefully, taping off parts to avoid scratches, replacing all wires in factory places etc, you’re looking at 4-5 hours off and on. Two bikes worth of labor and not having to wait on a painter, worth 1500 to me.

The side panels (pull), bags (2 thumb screws), tank (4 bolts, 1 harness, 1 gas line quick disconnect), front fairing (4-6 screws, head light harness) would take maybe another hour tops. Tops.
And even if you really took your time and made it a 4-5 hour job, that is in "no way on planet earth" worth 1500 bucks. Maybe if you've spent your entire life being a really, really bad mechanic...
BUT if someone wants to pay me 375 dollars per hour to do that job... please, please, PM me.

The hardest part is the rear/front fender. That's probably an hour, maybe two if you spend an hour taping stuff up. The side panels (pull), bags (2 screws), tank (4 bolts, 1 harness), front fairing (4-6 screws) would take maybe another hour tops.

This is what i was thinking too ! The only thing that would really take any time would be the rear fender, everything else comes right off. The thing is i don't think a dealer would let you do the swap to their bike. Maybe take your flawless tins to them and then they hand you the others. Still gonna cost you though.
I wouldn't pay a dealer to obtain the parts off another bike when I could get them myself brand new untouched without the dealer mark up and scratches.
If you did it that way you'd save 20% on the set and also 1500 bucks on labor - I guess...
