Next Suggested Mod - Cam?
What would you suggest as the next most impactful modification? I currently have a 2006 Street Glide with V&H slip ons, PowerCommander, and SE air kit.
Should a cam be the next mod?
What kind of cost would that be?
I don't think that I want to go to a 95" build. Just looking for something to take the "next step up".
Thanks, John

John,
The "next step" is always a tough question at this point. The "right cam" now could end up useless just another "next step or two" down the road. So if your "next step" is gonna be your "last step" then do the cam. If not your better off skipping the "step" plan and build the motor you want. You will save tons of money in the long run.

RE: Next Suggested Mod - Cam?
The next step in my mind would be the cams for sure. You want to pick the correct cams for your style of riding. With you being on a bagger I would think you would want the power to come on in the lower RPM range and be able to pull all the way up the redline.
I would highly recomend going with gear drive cams. It will save you $$$ in the long run. When my bike was still an 88" I went with S&S 510G (GREAR DRIVE) Cams right at my 1000 mile service. Installed & Dyno tunned it cost $950.00. It's worth the extra few hundred $$$ for the gear drive. The perforance was unbelievable, it went from 59HP & 70TQ to 74HP & 84TQ. Then last winter I had the jugs bored to 97" with 10.5:1 Wiseco piston and Heads were sent off for work, and I am still using the same S&S 510G cams. And now have 97HP & 104TQ.
So I guess what I'm saying is IMOP the S&S 510G cams are a good upgrade with a 88" and larger.

Given the following info about "msrider", I wouldn't hold my breath for an answer.

RE: Next Suggested Mod - Cam?
04roadking, or anyonein the "know',I have an '05 rk custom. 88" bike with a carb. Could I get the s and s 510g and expect this will do me until I have the cash to go to the 95+"? Would not want to have to buy a new cam when I did the build (which will come). Will I be able to run with just this cam? I added the SE a/c and had my carb rejetted and runs great. I just want more pull, especially when riding two up. I seem to max out at 90-92 mph. If so, what will I be looking at cost wise? IF not, what do you guys suggest? Sorry to jump on and steal the thread, but I too need 'more power'.
