Default Voltage gauge at start up?

Hi all,

I have had my Road Glide on a tender for a while. Today the tender started blinking "check battery." I turned the bike to start it up and noticed the gauge only goes to 10ish, as shown in the pic. It started fine though and the gauge went to 14ish when running. However, I can't remember what it usually says before starting. Is this normal? Or sign of a bad battery? Battery is about 2.5 years old, only about 3k miles on it.

I just wanted to check on this so I don't get stranded.
Thanks!

Will do! Is the 10ish a normal reading before start up?

Should be a minimum of 12v. Best measured at battery with everything off. My bike shows 12.5v key on/engine off. Note that on this chart, you're out of the acceptable state of charge below 12v.

After sitting for a while, with the tender attached, With the ignition on, and the run switch on, mine reads 12.7 with a dmm at the battery tail lead. The built in gauge is not extremely accurate, so use a dmm or buy one of these....

I'd say take the battery to an auto parts shop and have it tested. Otherwise also would suggest checking and testing your charging system.

I had a similar situation and it turn out to be the battery tender.

That's ruining the battery or the gauge?
