I have just got a 08 flhtcui and I bought the xm mod with the overlay harniss. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if the xm screen will come up once I have installed the parts are will a dealer have to do something to the main radioget the display to show up as right now it just shows wb,am,fm,cd when I sroll through the menu.

 

It should show up once the radio "sees" the other device. Now having said that I have never added one to my bike. Some of the car companies have come up with a way to rip you off by having to go to them, then they act like they do something and turn it on. I think on the cars it's just a code they punch in. I just don't know if Harley does this or not. On my boat once it's connected it recognizes the device and the xm screen comes on. Someone on here will know for sure about HD.

 

I installed the xm box on my 2006 s.g. and it shows up on the screen right away. Just give xm the numbers off of your xm module start a suscription and your ready to go!

 

I am really surprised no aftermarket companies have come out with a plug-in XM module for the HK radio. As long as HD has a hold on the market the prices will stay as high as they are. I would love to have the luxury of having built-in XM. But not at their prices.
