Anyone convert detachable tour pack mount to older model?
I have an 86 Electra Glide with Tour pack. I've taken it off but would like to keep because it can be very useful at times. i just don't like the way bike looks leaving the non-detachable bracketing on>>>>> flat piece of chrome sheeting. A detachable kit would be great... but alas HD could give a sh*t about an 86 owner. It's not like i have any inclination to buy a newer bike. If I did I would probably build one from scratch...... Has anyone fabbed a bracket for older models that will accept the detachable hardware?

RE: Anyone convert detachable tour pack mount to older model?
I drilled out the rivits on my 88's rack. I the took the forward "struts" of the rack and bent them outward 90 deg and drilled 2 holes down through the frame. I now have 2 bolts through the frame where the old rivits were and 2 bolts through the front struts and the frame. It takes me about 10 minutes to pull the whole rack and tour pack off the back of the bike.
In addition to this I removed the 2 bolts on the grabrail thought the fender so now my touring seat is attached to the rack and the front mount at the tank. When I pull off the rack the seat comes with it and I can bolt on my Danny Grey seat that I have for my single riding.
All credit for the removable rack ideas goes to 89FLHT here on the forums. [sm=deal.gif]
