Default Oil leak on 02 Ultra Classic

Help, I recently purchased a 2002 Ultra Classic w/3,700 miles. After riding it on a 130 mile trip, I noticed an oil residue on the right hand cover under the seat and the front of the right hand saddle bag. Any one had this problem before? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It's not an oil leak! I'll bet you've (or your dealer) has recently changed the oil and has added 4 qts to the oil tank. The engine will blow the excess out through the air cleaner via the breather vents that duct themselves into the air cleaner (where the oil blow-by is supposed to be magically sucked into the throttle bodies to be burned) - however, if there's too much blow-by caused by the oil tank being filled to its capacity, you get exactly what you're referring to. Next oil change, use between 3.5 and 3.7 qts - no more. Problem solved. I am assuming your engine is in good condition, btw. You didn't state mileage.

Thanks, Nick 56 and Retired_Ted, thought I had a big problem.
Went from a 01, 883 to the 02 Ultra and do not know alot about them.
The Ultra now has 3,830 miles on it.
Again thanks for your help.

Yup, same problem with my 02 Ultra. Right after the oil change, I got oil spray where you did. Asked the tech to put a little less oil in the tank, and the problem went away. Breather has to go through the air cleaner for EPA requirements.

Even though Ted is on a wing, LOL, he speaks the truth. Follow his instructions and I am sure you will not have anymore issues.(knocking on wood for you, LOL)

i had the same problem with my rk, after that i decided to do all of my own maintenance. no more problems. other than some busted knuckles, some muffled swearing, and of course the occasional crying. but it's all good. with every cut finger, or bruised knuckle, i think about how i have joined the ranks of those who proudly stick it to the stealer.
