RE: BMW1200LT
If you have to explain I wouldn't understand . . . No wait . . . that's not it . . . Anyhow those "other" bikes are eeeh ok, but they're just that. They are a thing, sitting there. A BMW or Gold Thing wing whatever is a plastic thing. They are just an inanimate (spell check me on that please) object. A Harley is TOTALLY different. It's like it's alive and has a soul. We all know they really don't, but your Harley is PART OF YOU !!!

Owned a 99' LT, and must say that Jinks is right on the money! My wife still feels that the LT has the best seat going. It's a top heavy beast for sure!! I do like my Harley.. It's a hot mother though. I wish the engine heat was less!!

Wow thanks for that (video), I just lost my lunch...[:'(]
One of my best friends had the same question and so I let him ride my EGlide, then we went to the local BMW dealer to test an LT. He has a very short inseam and looked very uncomfortable. We both rode it. It was very heavy with a high center of gravity. Slow speed maneuvering was difficult and my friend actually dropped it rolling to a stop on a "crowned center" road. I have tons of "parking lot time" on my EGlide and I'm pretty proficient at the low-speed stuff and I still had trouble with the Beemer. I didn't drop it but it felt like I could at any time.
Now, you say that you won't spend much time at low speeds, and rightfully so. It goes quick, and I had trouble in straight lines keeping up on my bike. In the corners, though, it was heavy handed, I kept up easily with my friend. When I rode it, it was a fair amount of work to make it corner hard, again I think due to the top-heavy feeling. But you have to slow down sometime, and worrying about dropping it all the time when you slow down is just not a good feeling for either of us. He just picked up an end-of-model year '07 Classic.

RE: BMW1200LT
As posted above try the roadglide before you buy. I've owned a couple of the R boxer bmw's and they were nice but dealer service is 150 miles away. The roadglide is a lot more fun for me and it is very comfortable for my 6'2" frame. Resale: It took me several months to sell each of my past bmw's and both were sold out of state.I sold an '01 fat boy in 2 days listed in the local paper. Have fun making your decision.
