Default At what temperature is it too cold to ride for you.

Early Sunday morning I get up to take about a 25 mile ride to get breakfast. I checked the temperature outside (36) and said to myself, "No way, I'm riding today, too cold", I'm taking the cage, so I got to wondering about other riders' weather toughness. So, at what temperature do you say, "No way, today, too cold." I figured for most folks 55 degrees and above is not too cold, even a wuss like me will ride then. So, take your pick.

Depends on the distance of ride..... The last bike show I rode to (In Michigan) was in November. I rode 50 miles to the show and the temp was 32 degrees F when I left home. I'd do it again....but prob. no further than 50 miles.

Me personally, I guess it depends on the distance. If I am riding any distance, such as an all day ride, it HAS to be above 45-50 to be comfortable. If I am just tooling around town, as long as it is above 30 and there isn't any ice, snow, or salt on the road, I have been known to do that from time to time.

Since I live in miami florida I am not used to the cold but I did ride in Daytona during bike week one night after leaving the bar and boy it was cold for me it was around 50 degrees and all I had was a windbreaker "way too cold for me"
Maybe if I lived somewhere where it was cold for long periods of time I could endure colder temps.

cold usually isn't the issue. it's more the road conditions and the weather forecast. below 35 i usually fire up the heated suit.

Yep, with the heated Gerbing cloths it never to cold, just don't need any type of moisture out on the roads!

20 degrees (dry out) is about my threshold.

24 degrees is my limit for 50 miles or less.

A couple of other things keep me off the roads in the winter. Once they start spreading salt on the roads, I'm done until spring. Also after snow plow windrows are along side the road; runoff from melting in the sun and freezing in the shade or after sundown can cause trecherous conditions. [:-]

Low 20's without heated clothes. It also depends on where I'm riding, 30-40 degrees cruising down a road at 40 is a lot different to me than 70-75 on the freeway. Whenthe snot starts freezing on my face, I'm about done.
