RE: 2" tank lift kit on your bagger?
i think it would help on the alignment of the fairing stripes with the tank stripes. unfortunately, my fairing is solid black with no pinstriping - the tank has pinstripes but there is nothing to correlate it to on my fairing. someone else will have to chime in on how close the stripes would match up - better or worse. i know that jackyl makes a 3" lift also, which is a little too high. i actually asked him for a shorter version and he sent me a custom1-1/2" lift at no charge (great guy to buy from) to try. i actually liked it, but the purpose of a tank lift was to be noticeable, so i went back to the 2" after i altered the tank position some.
for comparison, pic of bike before tank lifted.

for looks primarily. you would be surprised how many people will walk around the bike knowing something is different, but can't quite figure out what it is. not many 30-40 dollar additions will change the bikes appearance as well.
i have heard the argument that it allows better air flow around and over the top of the motor. possible i guess. i run mostly in hot oklahoma weather, and it does seem like the oil temp guage reading is a few degrees cooler than it has been in previous years (still a lot of 100 degree days here during the summer, but don't know how the weather compared this year to last for a truer comparison).

i have them on both my bike and my wife's lowrider. i can tell you it does affect the gas guage reading because the angle of the tank is altered. the guage will drop more quickly off of the full reading than with no tank lift, but the same amount of gas is in the tank. initially it will look like it is using more gas as the fuel level seems to drop quicker. i have found no difference however at the point where i have to switch over to the reserve. there is probably a little difference at that point, but very insignificant. it has never caused me to have to switch to the reserve by necessity and i have not changed the point at which i refill the tank. i used to get about 150 miles between refills and i still get the same - without having to change the fuel valve setting. the guage will read closer to empty a little faster, but so far no other effects seen. i would imagine that if you tried to run the tank dry, with the tank lifted, there may be a small amount of gas more that is left at the back of a lifted tank.
