I've been following the various posts on how inaccurate the ambient air gauge is. Mine is too. So I took the outer fairing off today to see about relocatingthe sensor in order to improve accuracy.I don't see a solution, at least not one that would be worth the trouble. The sensor doesn't appear to be designed to withstand rain and it's not attractive at all, so moving it to an exposed,visible spot is out. Moving it to a protected, less visible spot in front of the motor probablywon't improve accuracymuch, due to engine heat.

Then it hit me! This is a classic example of Harley's time-tested marketing technique--sell us a situation that is not quite right and then sell usthe fix. The air temp gauge is pretty much useless, but you can make it right by replacing it with an oil temp gauge for $139.95.

 

Ummmmmmm......did you just figure that out, or are you the real Mr. Obvious?

Just move the probe outside the fairing. Put it under the fairing between the forks. You will be surprised.

Move it to the lower cross bar afteradding about 10" of wire. It is not really visible unless you are looking and it works relatively well. (Relatively means within 5 degrees.)

 

Seene more reason to own a Road Glide - mine works perfectly!

I'm sure that you don't want to just leave that sensor in place and drill a hole in the fairing to allow the proper air flow to it?
