Default 2001 Ultra Classic

I own a 2001 Ultra Classic. I get 35mpg fuel mileage. Any suggestions on improving gas mileage?

Hmm - lower speeds, premium gas (see gas post that's active right now), get the bike tuned? If you want a useful answer you may want to post something about your engine build, carb'd/EFI etc.

Already took it to HD dealer. I was told it had the old fuel injection system. I do run premium gas and ride at speed limit. It's 88B engine, high flow air filter and v/h exhaust system. I had it tuned and reprogrammed for the stage 1.

It's got an 88A engine.....

Anyway, I agree that your gas mileage is a tad low. My 2000 RKC gets in the low 40's with most riding. Sure, it is a tad lighter than an Ultra, but it gets the same mileage riding two-up with a week's worth of luggage on it.

What are you using for a tuner?

My 01 Ultra ran around 44 to 46 before i changed cams and breather. It now is similar to my brothers Road King with similar build as both get around 38 to 39 at highway speeds. I installed S&S 510 gear drive cams, with a Big Sucker Stage 1 breather and a DFO fuel processor with Rhineheart tue dual headpipes with Wild Pig mufflers. I think with a dyno tune that will improve to around 40 mpg or so.

My stock '02 Ultra only gets 38-39 mpg. Thats running the speed limit, with no hot rodding!

My stock 01 Ultra got upper 40's with a SE air cleaner. That was two up.
