Ultra towed away today
All set for a great Patriot Guard escort ride today into NYC and my 08 Ultra died. Cranked but no start after riding for ten minutes. Shut it off and would not start. Three diagnostic codes came up. U1300. U1301 and P 0374. One has to do with crank position, and the others are something like EMS to ECM or whatever. At least I was still close to home and dealer.

I can feel your grief..was on a 400mi return trip home, pull in for my last fill-up 40 miles from home and I have power, however it won't start... on the phone, about 10miles from a harley shop...had to bike towed in..cause: drive belt cut the ground cable going to the starter..I guess someone didn't route the cable right during build...On my way in 45mins..

OK..just got off ther phone with HD dealer. My Power Commander was the problem. It was shorted out or someting and kept screwing with my bikes ECU. They took it out and all is well. On a side note, they said a PC will void your warraty!!! Of course he did nit void my warranty because they are really cool at this dealer, but they did charge me for a diagnostic ($117.00). Bike is ready to roll!

He also said a SERT can void the warranty also. It looks like , the way I read this, is that if you have real serious expensive damage to your engine the motor company will get out of paying for it if you have installed these devices. So take that thing off before you take it in to the dealer.

That's a good question. When I had my SE Springer last year, the dealer I bought it from installed a SERT and V&H Big Radious, and said the warranty was still good. Makes you think it winds up being up to the dealers discretion whether they want to work with these items or not. I thinkthey need the money from selling and installing these things so they play the game.JMO

could have been water in the connection, my road king started missing big time after a two week period of non use and I had washed the bike before the gap in useage. They at first replaced the crank sensor and sent me on my way. I got a block and it started doing the same thing. Then they dug a little deeper and found water shorting my power commander at the ecm connection. They dried it out and put some dilectic grease on the connecting pins relocated it so water couldn't get at it and its been fine ever since. Never mentioned PC2 and warranty issues. HD Dealer did not charge me and it was under warranty at the time.
