Dropped Saddle Bag on Driveway Yesterday!!

Even though I have saddlebag rails I wash the bags first and set them aside.
I put clear pads (WalMart/Home Depot about $2) on each corner to protect the bags.
They are about 1 1/4 by 1/8 of an inch and really do the trick.
It comes in handy if you have to take your bags off on the road.

Now that's a good idea!

But on "the road" chances are you will not have enough shop rags etc. I myself use cardboard, or even a cardboard box to hold my saddle bags when off the bike, but if you need to pull them roadside, having some protection underneath (like cmfii11 suggested) is not at all a bad solution.

Sorry for you man, and this is a little late but I always take mine off before washing, lay them on a big soft blanket I have spread out in the drive, away from the bike. After I finish the bike, I wash the bags on the blancket to prevent stratches if it slips from my hands, then put back on the bike, hang up the blanket and let it dry. Has always worked for me.

I use the same technique as Gunner11. OP, sorry to hear about that man, hope that you can get it fixed on the cheap. A friend of mine dropped his RK in the garage and it fell against a piece of angle iron. It got all of the way through that paint on both the lid and the bag itself. They are deep cuts and just painting them probably won't be enough to make them look right. He is debating just buying a new/used bag when he can find one. Good luck.

Wow!
This was almost (but not quite) worth the cost of repairs, having people take the "void the warranty" crack seriously!
I do appreciate those that came back with the "been there, done that".
Like the man said just before he signed the paperwork for his new harley -- Oh well, it's only money.

First thing I would do is FIND ANOTHER BODY SHOP because it's obvious your guy doesn't know what he's doing and/or is way behind the times. Any shop I know of here can match any color instantly with the color match systems. But hey, why not buy a new bag from HD and avoid the mess completely?
