I did something similar with all thread. It is covered in thin plastic tubing and holds ALL my detachable stuff and assorted riding gear.

Nice idea, going to do something similiar for my TourPak. What size of tubing did you use for the best fit?

I knew somebody was gonna ask that. I don't remember (I did this last summer), sorry.
I just mesured the slots and went from there. I went with the aluminum tubing because it was the thinnest wall thickness, so I could use the biggest all-thread I could. The guy that used plastic tubing is a good idea too. Good luck, on finding what will work for ya.
