if harley went offshore with building its bikes, that would be a shame. and would give us the incentive to keep our old antiques. if they did go offshore though, hondas and all the other hong kong motorcycles.........well nevermind. harley is sitting on an absolute empire, and they know it. surely they have enough marketing sense to not kill the golden goose.

I am not American and do not live in America.
I bought my new 2008 Ultra last year purely because it was a Harley and American made.
I have a Suzuki Volusia and was preparing to buy a new Boulevard.
Decided I wanted a Harley, the best of American, expecting to enjoy it but it to be a bit agricultural.
Well, I love my Harley, my wife loves my Harley, we ride every occasion we can.
It is so much more fun than we thought. It is a magnificent piece of machinery that grumbles and snarls its way down the road sneering at all that dare to block its way.
Harley has a mystique and personality that I have never had on a vehicle.
Long live Harley and America and the Americans that built my machine.
Sorry but I wouldn't want a Harley built anywhere else.
Just get through this patch and keep those jobs in America.

According to the quote, Mr Klein said the MOCO would look at other locations in the United States. I think the MOCO has more marketing sense than to move an American Icon such as Harley Davidson offshore or overseas. If they did, a 37% downturn in sales would be a drop in the bucket. With unemployment as high as it is, and the economy still at a recession point, the downturn in sales of big ticket items is a second order effect. The MOCO will tighten its belt until the economy and employment improves and they will increase production accordingly. Just my humble opinion.
