>>Frederick Harley says any non Harley oil will void my warranty<<

Gee, that was scary . . .

For a moment I thought Frederick was some new Harley family spawn I hadn't heard of yet.

Just go ahead and have some engine work, tuning and exhaust replacement done to make your bike pull stronger and run faster and the warranty is voided anyway. Then use whatever oil you want.

why is everyone so scared to use a good oil? when was the last time that you heard of an engine failure that was a result of the oil? not the oil pump failing to deliver, but directly because of the oil? i've actually never heard of a single one (when using good oil, proper level and periodic maintenence)

Question:
Using Mobil 1 15W-50 in Harley-Davidsons
Several independent tests have shown that Mobil 15W-50 is virtually similar
to Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 oil. Since Harleys utilize separate oil supplies
for the primary and tranny, is there any valid reason not to use the 15W-50
in a Harley?
-- Dave Gartner, Goodyear, AZ

Answer:
As long as the primary and tranny are separate sumps and there is no concern
for clutch performance, then Mobil 1 15W-50 can be used in a Harley.

I live 15 minutes from Frederick Harley and NEVER spend my money there. They got me on some bullshit inspection items a few years back that cost me alot more than what I thought was fair. Definitely agree with the OP as far as them being way more concerned about making a quick dollar over a return customer. F*^* them !!!!

Feel free to ask me how I really feel..............

I hope you took the time to file a formal complaint with your states attorney's general office for consumer protection. It's the only way to stop this kind of bs from happening.

As the others have said that's BS. They can't void your warranty for not using Harley Oil. Tell them you'd use it if it was a good as Amsoil or Mobil 1.

Total and complete BS. You can run Mobil1 15W50W without any problem whatsoever. Where do these dealers come up with this stuff? Run from this dealership as fast as you can. If they'll do that with something as simple as oil, don't even thing about putting a custom mirror on that bike!
