Question MT90B16R vs. MU90B16R

Can anyone out there give me the quick and easy difference in these two tires? I'm about to place another tire order, and I can't find anything that really tells me what the difference is. Will either one fit on a 2000 Road King? Currently running the MT90B16R. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

MT is roughly a 130
MU is roughly a 140

Look up the tire section width on the manufacturers website to see if the MU will fit on your bike

Thanks. I tried looking at Dunlops site, but couldn't find what might fit. I'll keep looking, but you've answered the basic question. The MU is actually a little wider.

OK, I don't know how I missed it. It recommends the MT, and doesn't even mention the MU, so I'll probably just go with MT.

I have a MU90 16 in the garage that's going on this winter. I ride a '00 RKC. I bought the tire all ready mounted on the rim. It came off of a '00 Dresser, he told me no problem on the fitment.

How about MT in front and MU in rear?

Looking for a D402 or an Elite 3?

Size Diameter Width Load Tread Depth
MT90B16 D402 25.70 5.20 827 9/32

MT90B16 E3 25.7 5.15 830 10/32
MU90B16 E3 25.72 5.57 930 11/32

IMHO, the Elite 3 is a better tire. Longer lasting, much better handling on grooves and tar snakes and for some reason they are cheaper.

Quite a few people on here are running them instead of D402's.

on my 08 sg i used the mu 90-16 and it fit, with only about an eighth of an inch clearance between the sidewall of the tire and the rear fender. anything bigger would surely have rubbed. there are a few guys who claim that the 160 elite 3 will fit, but i don't honestly see how. when it's time for the new front tire, it'll be the mt 90-16. a great combo that works on my bike. i don't know if there was a difference with swingarm or fender width on the two bikes. wish i could be of more help.

The MU on my 2002 RK rubbed the belt guard. Might have stayed Ok but had it changed out for the original MT I ordered. My white wall was ugly after 15 miles.
