2010 Head Pipe Catalyst Heat issues...?
 

Who has noticed the increased pipe heat due to the catalyst in the collector?
What are your suggestions to cool this down?

Ideas?

I swapped an '07 Ultra on a '10 and have been enjoying *reduced* heat, specifically on the thighs at stops.

When I rode the '09s last year I noticed some of the heat moved down to my right calf and ankle area. No biggie as you can change your leg position, if necessary. I noticed no perceptable increase on my '10. It's absolutely comfortable with feet down, which was my main objection on the '07.

After reading a thread about someone's catalyst glowing cherry-red at night I gave mine a close look while going down the road. Yeah, it's got a little bit of color but mine isn't "glowing". Catalysts are hot. Same thing on your car or truck. I don't think there's any way to alter that as even with some fuel management a cat is still gonna be real hot. It's the nature of the beast.

Catalysts : All 2010 Touring models now have a catalyst in the exhaust collector. With this catalyst we have measured headpipe temp increases of 150+ degrees hotter than our 2009 bike and is immediately noticeable when riding the bike when compared to the 2009 bike as well." :eek:
