Default Anyone put a fairing on a Road King...

..and didn't like it?

I bought a Hoppe Quadzilla fairing, had it painted two tone to match my bike, put a nice new stereo in it. I was so psyched when I mounted it and went for my first ride and I have to say I hated it. After a half of riding season I took it off and went back to the detachable windshield. I ended up selling it.

Just wondering if anyone else had that happen.

I don't really like the look of a fairing but have one on my RK for the winter and long trips.

If I wanted I fairing, I would've bought a Street Glide.

Your not alone. I had a Dead Center on my 06 RK and ended up selling it. Nothing wrong with the fairing but I just didn't like riding with it on.

My FLHS predates the RK, was otherwise similar with an oval windshield. I didn't like THAT! Caused too much turbulence and discomfort. Fitted an early glassfibre batwing and haven't looked back, although I have modified the windshield of that to improve comfort around our heads.

I have been kicking the idea around, and my wife said she would buy me one for Christmas. I told her last night not to get one. Going with a little taller windshield instead. The one I have now is only 15" ,and I'm 6' tall. I just like the look of my bike without the fairing. Thanks for everyones input here.

I don't really care for the look of the fairing, but i use mine for colder riding as well as longer trips, though i'm guessing once warmer weather comes around, i'll go back to my windshield.

My new fairing should be here tomorrow. Won't be able to try it out for a couple more weeks as my bike is tore apart and goes for paint today. I sure hope I like it. I've always rode without a shield, so I'm sure it'll take a little getting used to.

I have a Dragonfly fairing on mine and love it. I don't have the wind buffeting like I had with the stock windshield. I have the 8" windshield.
