Andrews 54 or woods 7h cam?

Have an 08 SG that I ride two up and want a good torque cam but NOT a 255 cam
Planning a 107 build can decide on cam. My final choices are near the same by the dynos listed on various sites

Plan 1: GMR 107 with stage 3 headwork, 30 HG andrews 54 cam 9.8 compression, tapered pushrods, compression releases. TTS tuner, d&d fat cat with quiet baffle.

Plan2: GMR 107 stage 3 headwork, 30 HG woods 7h cam, adjustable pushrods, compression releases, TTS tuner, d&d fat cats.

Either should be good bagger build for torque likely 100+ HP and TQ. Question is which would be easier/cheaper to build, more reliable, easier to tune and better with todays fuel.

Don't want to have to go with roller rockers or supports. Believe the 54 with less agressive ramps would be easier on lifters and rocker arms.

Got parts boxed up and ready to pull the trigger this coming week.

I would talk to Steve and see what he says and go with it. Its always important to stick with what a builder says.

That being said, the wood cams set up properly will feel torquier and stronger.
I have used both cams but prefer the Wood, but again with the heads you are choosing, go with Steve's recomendation as his heads may differ.

If you are going to build a Steve motor, you'd be foolish to listen to anyone but him.

Same, of course, is true for any performance vendor.

If you're set on GMR, use the cam Steve recommends. If you're not, take a look at T-Man. I've got a 625 cam in the 103 in my Night Train, and it makes a ton of power quietly.

Agreed

Of course I'd listen to Steve. Just hoping for an informed opinion is the woods 7 is it worth the addtional cost of the cam and the wear in drive train for maybe 2-3 more torque down low

Woods cams make great power, but they tend to be noisy with their aggressive ramps. I know two people who have taken out Woods 6 cams because they couldn't stand the valvetrain noise.

tman and a 625 cam hey great! That would suck for torque and a bagger. Thanks for the advice but its a heavy bike

It's a heavy bike and you're talking about doing a 107. With my 103 I've got over 100 ft-lbs from 3,000-6,000 rpm. If you're concerned about that, look at the 590 which will shift the curve farther to the left.

I will happily take my sucky 116 ft-lbs that the 625 gives me.

Not sure of the source of your comment, but recommend you visit T-man's website or google on the net for numerous forum postings with build results. T-Man site has dyno results for many of his builds using the TR590 and TR625 cams, depending on several variables (heads, exhaust, TB, etc.). Both set-ups make outstanding useable tq and hp for bagger needs.

For what it is worth, the Woods cams make great power, but the noise is rough. I am a guy who loves power and will put up with allot to get it, but I actually removed my Woods cams and went to an Andrews 54. I have no complaints. The 54 pulls like a freight train without issues.
