Elite III tire question

I ordered my EIII's from www.motorcyclesuperstore.com and you can either call them or select your model and year and it will bring up whatever tire is available for your bike.

The GL1500 is, I believe, a reference to a Goldwing model. What year/model/ etc is your bike?. For tire sizes, the 160# is the width (in millimeters), the 80# is a percentage ratio of width to hgt, so 160 X 80% = 128mm high, the 16# means a 16" rim. The "B" means bias ply (were these radials they would have an "R" instead). My touring bike requires 130/85's or 90's for the rear, 16", but newer tires are larger. There is likeley a speed rating (H=130mph, V is higher, not sure exactly) and a weight rating. Online tire stores seem to be pretty difficult to navigate to exactly what you should use, size and type wise.

The tire that everyone recommends is the MU90B16; however, folks are running the 160/80B16 on the rear of 08 and below touring bikes without any problems.
Having seen both, the width between the MU and the 160 is barely noticable. If you fear the wider tire may contact your fender etc, just get the MU90B16 and call it a day... it's cheaper anyway and designed for the width of rim you will be putting it on. That said, I ran the 160 with no problems..at all.

My fault everybody. I'm riding a 07 Electra Glide Classic. My biggets concern was the gl1500 attached to the tire size and it had me wondering. k&j eglide cleared up the most concern that I had. It is a bias tire and not some strange thing by Honda.

My Owners Manual says MT90B16 front & rear. I have read a lot of posts from members who ride with the MU90B16 on the rear, without problems. The MU is slightly wider (.42" to be exact) and slightly larger diameter. My service manual has a warning not to change tire sizes with ABS because it can mess with the sensors. I plan on buying new tires in the Spring and will probably go with the MT size. That way, if anything bad happens nobody can blame me for using the wrong size tire.
