Cam chain tc88, its time!!
Ok here we go, 04 ultra, 31k makin noise in the cam area. yes its chain on aluminum. ??? have to replace. is it worth the time/$$$ to do 95" as well as cams for little more torq?? if so, looking 4 the right combo (90 hp/torq) keeping motor longevity. KEEP in mind, i ride!! bought it with 12k miles 10 months ago. And i ride it like i stole it, cause i did!!! it is basic stock, i added V&H duals, python slips, big sucker & power com 3 usb.( i think is a pos?) Please give honest feedback, i call it like it is!!!

It's worth it, IMO. But then again, I love wrenching and spending time in the garage. After doing a big bore, I'd definitely do it again. Go 98" with a good shop and you will have a well built motor that is as reliable, if not more, than stock. Since you have a pre '07, you might seriously want to consider gear drive cams to get rid of the chains/tensioners, or at least give the hydraulic tensioner upgrade a look.
Good luck.

pull the top end off, port the heads, bore the jugs to 95", put in GEAR driven cams of your choice, install adjustable pushrods and you can have a motor that will give you 105+/105+, 45+ MPG and run 60,000 miles with no problems.
Best wishes in your decision. Keep everyone posted on your journey!

I'm also going to pay attention to this thread as I'm ready for a change also. I follow all the cam threads and etc, but since I'm an '01, carbed 88", there isn't much posting lately as mostly the conversations are related to EFI stuff. So I'm learning alot, but.........
ps, Cuda, bike looks great! What's next?

I replaced my very worn tensioners on my '02 RKC with 33K miles. I used 510g S&S gear driven cams with adjustable push rods. I'm very pleased with the increased torque and throttle response. I'm now thinking about going up to 95 or 98 with some head work when $ is available. I also plan to keep my bike a long time and didn't want to worry about tensioners wearing again. So glad they're out! Good luck.

Ya know.... From what I've learned from some guys and mechanics, they would almost rather tune with a carb due to the relative simplicity. Change a couple of jets and you are good to go. While EFI can be more precise and is typically more efficient, nothing wrong with carbs either. As has been said many times... "It's all in the tune."

I would do it. Have a 95" in my '03 ultra. IMO don't do adjustable push rods (nuts can and will loosen up and cause problems) just took out the SE adjustables and went back to stock. Also do the cam plate upgrade (hydraulic tensioners and high volume oil pump). Also do cams (just took out my Black Widow cams and replaced with SE204, seems to be a good fit for what I have)
