Why? Why? Why?
Why are they doing this? maine is already tough enough to live/work in and to eek out a decent standard of living. Now they have to take away the simplest pleasures most of us have..."riding free"...and jerk that out from under us!
I left Bangor in 2005 and moved to Panama City FL...Thunder Beach twice per year, riding season is 10 months, not 1.5, and no BS, overly obtrusive statutes to screw up my riding freedoms. Maine vehicle inspections in withstanding. They are actually a blessing...keeps people from the woods from driving with rotted out brake lines on highways. Two years as Service manager at VIP Automotive taught me that.
I genuinely feel bad for you folks!

Well straight pipes at 3 AM help me sleep better. Each bike sings it's own song, I am a Dyna, Softail, Sportster, Ninja etc. I enjoy trying to read the sound, it is music to my ears. And when the bikes drown out the TV, that is OK with me because there is a lot of BS on TV anyway and with sports you can just watch and understand. But, a lot of non-bikers don't care for the noise. Many of them work hard, fought in wars, are sick etc. And don't like being woken up at 3 AM. So that is the nut of it imho. I like my loud pipes and crack them open out in deer/moose country, on the interstate and when the time is right. If we could have kept it calm in the hood, we would not be facing this now. And let me ask you now, if you are sleeping after a hard day and hear some rap music rattling your windows at 3 AM, do you enjoy it? Get used to it American/metric biker, it will come your way too. Best we can do now is get educated, self regulate and get involved. Everybody has rights, including MC'ers. JM2C's
