It is a problem because the bike does not work the way it is designed to work, if you don't mind your bike being broken in that way that is fine. I rarely start mine in gear but if you do something like kill the bike on an uphill leaving a stoplight then being able to pull the clutch in and go while having your feet both on the ground is a very nice feature.
