The PERFECT Ultra cup holder IMO with pics

I’ve been reading threads on cup holders and looking at the products available, and wasn’t able to find exactly what I wanted, but I now have it. Here were my considerations:

· I didn’t want a handle bar mounted set up – too much vibration and with my GPS mounted that way, I’ve got enough going on there anyway.
· I didn’t want a fairing or windshield mount…
· I didn’t want a front of saddlebag mount due to the exhaust heat and interference with my wife’s seating position.
· I liked the idea of a lower-fairing mount (accessible but not in the way) but couldn’t find a style I liked (and I didn’t want to carry around another key for lockable covers either).
· I really liked the style of our friend Captain-Itch’s cup holder product line, but he didn’t have the mount option I was looking for initially.

We opened a dialog, and he hooked me up with a super product that was exactly what I was looking for – classic styling and snap-mounted on my lower fairing glove box cover (replacing OEM cover with a nice leather one). Really high quality too. I put in on Friday evening and tried it out yesterday on a 320 mile ride and it works fantastic!

Larry also included a coolie that fits in great and holds smaller water bottles, cans, etc. Without the coolie inserted, it accommodates the “fatter” bottles. Pictures of each are attached.

I suspect that he may make a “product” out of this snap-on lower fairing mounted cup holder, but I can’t speak for him in that regard. He and Isabel make a great team and are a pleasure to work with, so I believe that they’d be willing to make other “exceptions” if nothing else.

Be safe,

Larry & Isa are the best, and that's a fine-looking drink holder.

damnnnnnnnnnn where were you last month. Same concerns you had, went with hog Trough good quailty piece and I am happy with it, but have to get Keys retooled yet. Like the added security of the hard doors, but if I would have scene this before hand????

Sorry about that..."a day late and a dollar short" is usually my story :icon_beerchug:

+1 for cpt itch. My holder is on my bars and the leather is SUPER thick. This thing will last as long as the bike does. His prices are very reasonable too, I got the cupholder, coozie, and mounting hardware for the same price as most mounts.

I gotta agree on all this and 05Train's comments (which BTW, is a very black train -- too cool). I don't know how Larry's able to shape that thick of a leather -- you could use that stuff for body armor. Yup, fair pricing too; based on my interactions, he's an honorable man with integrity, and unfortunately there's not many of us left! :icon_worthy:

Thanks Brock. I had it linked further above, but trying to "take care of our own" speaks novels in my 'olde skool' book of philosophy-- so I appreciate your reinforcement of that.

I refuse to buy a drink holder when I got one.
Here's mine. I will consider yours when mine wears
out or no longer functions.

GREAT response :icon_clapclap:-- and no matter what I said about that (and I've got some thoughts), I'd be in trouble somehow or another :icon_slap2: so I'm saying nothing...

ClsikRider 05-16-2010 03:52 PM

Very nice.. Looks like quality leather and nice styling!:icon_goodpost:

glenalt 05-16-2010 03:59 PM

Nice.

KW-HD Rider 05-16-2010 05:44 PM

Very nice. Looks like I need to send Capt Itch an email.

yakbow 05-16-2010 05:58 PM

i am picking up our 2010 limited this week. seems kuryakan is not making a cup holder in the passenger armrest anymore for the newer classics. i am also looking for a cup holder for the front , and this may be the one.

Captain Itch 05-16-2010 06:38 PM

Guy,s Thanks for all the kind words and a real big Thank,s to Michael for the idea and some very good detailed drawings to follow..My wife is in the process of building a web page for the holder and I will post a link to it just as soon as she is finished with it...Hope to have it working this evening..
Looks like the price of the holder will be $50.00 and if you would like a matching panel for the other side, add another $15.00
Thank you very much...

Big M 05-16-2010 07:12 PM

I like it, on when you need it and off when you don't.

Everyone, Now how's this for responsiveness (yes, maybe a bit of peer pressure or market demand involved):

Let's keep our buddy and this thread alive by occassionally responding and bumping it to the top again.

Larry, now if you could only find a photographer that would clean up his bike a bit better, or at least his garage before taking pictures!! :icon_lol:

Looks like your calendar has you at Sturgis again this year. I'll look forward to meeting you and Isabel in person then. I'll be the guy with bugs in his teeth and glovebox drinkholder serial number ...0001

All the best, Michael

I received my right side glove box cover. After getting the nice cover and cup holder on the left, my right side looked faded and torn by comparison. Works great for me – Thanks again to Captain-Itch :icon_toast:

KW-HD Rider 05-24-2010 11:45 AM

Ordered mine online Saturday. Hope to have it in hand soon.

Wassup8687 05-24-2010 02:26 PM

Looks like a great product. I ordered both sides. Can't wait to get them on.

AbnMP13 05-24-2010 05:17 PM

Looks nice Michael, I'll be ordering one soon.

A friend of mine got the HOG troughs and had hell getting someone to re-key the locks. He finally ended up ordering new Tour Pack locks from Harley that matched the current ones on his Ultra.

KW, It does look great. Not judging, 'cuz its your bike, your riding habits, and its your call; but just wondering, but why'd you choose throttle side?

Thanks,

Boy did I miss the point of Wassup's post. At the time, I thought he meant that he got one for the clutch side and a new cover for the trottle side...Now I get it.

Imagine this scenario: My wife's been out of town for a while and she finally comes home. Eventually I show her my cup holder -- "Wow, that's really nice...Where's mine?"

Gents, don't make the same mistake I did :icon_doh:

Guess what website I just came from :icon_eddie:

Captain Itch 05-28-2010 10:36 AM

Hi guys. This is Mrs. Itch.:)

I'll the ordered cup holder out first thing next week. I'm aready almost out the door to http://thunderontherockonline.com/

After that, back in the leather shop, and making more panels for the cup holders. Thank y'all very much for your nice words here. Special thanks to BurgundyUltra06 who started all this with his question "What about....?":icon_woot:

Y'alls have a nice Holiday Weekend. If anyone is around Monteagle, TN at the Rally, come by and see us. We always have time to BS around. I may even have a sip of homemade wine....yep, Itch makes that stuff and then gives it away...DUH!

You all behave, and be safe!

Isabel

Raaze07 05-28-2010 11:40 AM

I like the concept, but I'm not crazy about the concho. I don't have them anywhere else on my bike and I don't want to add one to just the glove box.

Any chance you'll come out with a version without a concho?

Captain Itch 05-31-2010 08:27 AM

Sure just tell us when you order that you do not care for a concho
Thanks ..

Wassup8687 05-31-2010 08:43 AM

What an awesome product. If you are on the fence with this I highly recommend it.

Mr. and Mrs. Itch are great to deal with and have super fast shipping too.

Siskel and Ebert would give this 2 thumbs up.

Any plans to make them to fit the Road Glide lowers?

Did 500+ miles this weekend in the 90+ heat. Great to have my new cup holder available. Went through lots of water bottles and it worked great and looks great.

NC Pirate 07-07-2010 12:55 PM

Just found this thread and promptly ordered one!

I just got back from Bryce Canyon with my cup holder last week. Went to Natural Bridge too. :-) :icon_bike:
