I used Amsoil gear oil in my '03 Electraglide and it really smoothed out my shifting. Hey 1sweetglide08, I bet I have as much shifting clunk as you do on my '08 Street Glide. I am changing to Amsoil gear oil in my tranny in the next few weeks. Hoping for smoother shifting like I got before.

Is there a good tech article somewhere on changing the gear oil?

Just look in your Owners Manual...very easy to do...30 min. or less.

Check the owner's manual- it tells you how.
Pull drain plug, drain oil, put new o-ring on plug & screw drain plug in, refill with 1 qt oil.
Takes about 10 min.

I had to chuckle at your reply, but it is timelessly good advise. Not all dealer personnel are brainless, of course, but some of the statements we hear about simply boggles the mind.

If you are going to compare Redline to Amsoil make sure you call out the product you are talking about. Alot of us in the south use Amsoil Sever Gear 75-110 in the tranny and have had great results. Just saying Redline or Amsoil don't pin point the comparison.

In My previous RG and my current EG, I have used Shockproof Heavy in the tranny. Worked great with no issues.

2 months ago I put Amsoils 75W90 gear lube in to try as I had a bottle.
Dropped the oil today, nothing on the drain plug magnet, did it's job as a lube.

Refilled with SPH and the shifting is noticeably better again. The Amsoil was not bad, just the SPH is better.

Sticking with my RL SPH.
