First thing I took off the bike, never saw a need for it and was always in the way when I needed to remove the saddle.

Be safe JIM

On my '09 RKC it didnt have a bolt. I left it on and tuck it under the Sundowner seat as I like the stock seat better when its only me. Take under 15 mins to remove the stock, add the Sundowner, grab handles and sissybar for two up.

Installed the Super reduced reach on my Limited yesterday. Seat came with a new strap. Instructions said it was a two-bolt deal. Wasn't. Right side was riveted. A dremel tool took care of the rivet, but you do have to remove the bracket. Removing the bracket was a good thing, as it was not properly adjusted from the factory and was putting a bind on the saddlebag.

On my 08 Ultra, all I have to do is remove the philips head screw, and the strap comes out of the bracket. No need to remove the bracket. First time I removed the bracket until I realized I didn't have to.

....really? Here this entire time I thought this was a "safety strap" for the seat - not a "grab strap" for a passenger.....go figure. Never could figure out why I needed a strap to hold the seat in place in case the bolt falls out when I'm sitting on it. I chaulked it up
to another worthless federal regulation that makes no sense.

Either way it only made it 23 miles before I removed mine.

I couldn't find any "official" recommendations through three dealers so I "shadetreed" my own solution.

There was a time in the early '60s when dealers sold new cars "with air conditioner" by tossing a factory packaged AC unit into the trunk... let the customer figure out how to install it. Deja vu MOCO, ya think?

The bottom line: quality is in the eye of the cost controller, apparently
How did you shadertree it? Dremel out the rivet and ???????

I drilled the rivets out and screwed the strap back on under the seat.

Question for you. I added the grab rails too ( part specific for my 09) but they seem to stick up higher than on the previous bike. The wife doesn't like the way they feel. Did you have this experience and if so, how did yu fix it?
