I am considering getting an Ultra so bear with me. Is the factory stereo loud enough with stock pipes? Or are upgrades like the Hogtunes necessary/desirable even with stock exhaust?

I'm not a fan of real loud pipes (neither are my neighbors at 2AM!) - I likely won't keep stock but don't really want too loud of pipes so am wondering if Hogtunes are needed. I do wear a 3/4 helmet most days so I need to factor that in to I 'spose.

Thanks,

The best upgrade I have made so far. I have an EGC and the wife hears the music fine on the back. Ordered on line quick delivery.

Mack...If you read TPhillips post on the first page of this thread, he states that the hog tunes are better than the J&M.

Rollover......Here is an amp that I found but personally have not tried.

I agree with Bryan on the distortion over half volume. Below that they are great. Anyone have any suggestions on an amp for an 06 Ultra? Would love to get a bit more sound out of the system. My Molly Hatchet and Metallica cds like to be played loud.
Go with the Hogtunes Ultra Sound kit amp....It pushes 45 watts to the speakers.

For everyone that says the Hogtunes speakers distort at more than half volume adjust the bass and treble and they won't distort close to FULL VOLUME....I have the Hogtunes Ultra Sound Kit both front and rear speakers along witht he 45 watt amp....This set up is so loud and clear that I can drown out the wife when we are 2 up[sm=shutup.gif].

The Hogtunes Ultra Sound kit is a INCREDIBILE IMPROVEMENT over stock....

That sounds like a good idea. I think Pez explained in another thread about enclosure size being an issue for bass response. Maybe someone could come up with a design to attach to the top of the engine guard that would be big enough for some bass and possibly help with the batwing updraft at the same time....
