Mine are the Reduced Reach bars - very similar to Heritage - and they didn't need new cables.

Larry- Can you share what they charged you?

My dealer hasn't said anything about needing new cables, just that I WOULD need a new throttle sensor....seems like if you want the dealer to do the work they won't do it unless you also purchase a new throttle sensor whether you need it or not.

Just put the Heritage bars on yesterday and love em! Went for a 100+ mile ride and no shoulder neck pain. But watch out when reinstalling front brake assembly. I broke the freaking little button that controls the rear brake light. Made a temp fix using a piece of plastic wedged in the rubber boot but it still ticked me off!

I didnt change anything when I did mine. Just swap the bar and ride.

I went from Beach Bars to the Heritage bars on my FLHRSI. Had to get a new brake line. The diamond one cost me 208. All the other cables fit.

Hey Phil, was the brake cable on the beach bars the stock one on your Custom? Just picked up the Heritage bars yesterday and didn't get any other parts. Have the service manual and will tackle this task after I get back from a trip to the left coast.

So my question is;

I see where hardly anyone with an Electra Glide complains about the handlebars. Typically, they are just changed for "looks purposes"

So will the E/Glide handlebars work on a RoadKing or RoadGlide (maybe too wide at the base for RG?)

Hard to believe how dealers like that stay in business. Changing the seat has zero impact on cables. I went from factory to heritage bars on myu 09 FLHRC plus changed seats a number of times. Still have original cables/wires. Try the other 6 dealers and put the one who lied to you out of business...

I had the dealer install Heritage bars on my '08 RK. No new cables were needed and they only charged for 1 hour & 15 minutes.
They make a world of difference.

Same here, heritage bars on 09 road king. Nothing needed but grips and labor, bout 1.5 hours.
