Eliminate the rear saddlebag guard for a sleek, custom appearance. This kit replaces the loop saddlebag guard with a bolt-on chrome-plated support leg. Kit includes all necessary mounting hardware.

I believe I still have a pair that I took off my bike if you were just looking for something less money than buying from HD. Let me know if you are interested and I then I will confirm I have them when I get homes a little later.

I considered these too because I dig the look, but with my luck, I'd drop the bike and mess up the bags, so I'm sticking with the ugly bars

I took those stock clean look off my 2006 Roadglide you are thinking about and installed The H-D Nostalgic Saddlebag Guard Rails 90839-94A
Clean looking and lower protection if dropped. You can find these used and sell off your old ones. Just a thought.
