Question Painted inner fairing question?

Getting ready to do handlebar swap, gauges, cb install etc...would like to do the painted inner fairing change while I have the SG apart.
Called one of the online 20% off dealers, they advised to buy the fairing from my local dealer because of potential shipping damage. Said they didn't even sell the painted inner online....another 20% off dealer does sell the online.
My question is how many have bought through online dealers? Any issues?

Thanks

Bunch of BS in my opinion. Obviously, anything can be damaged in the mail. It's all a matter of whether it's packaged properly. I've sent and received entire paint sets through the mail without a problem. Personally, i wouldn't have a problem ordering an inner fairing through the mail to get the discount.

I think I recall some posts about quality issues on some painted inner farings. Some of that may have happened during shipment in a poorly packed box from the factory.

I wouldn't let that keep me from ordering online though. Just make sure that if you do, you understand the return terms and conditions. As they say, it's all about the quality of the packing. Good luck with your purchase and install.

I thought about having my painter shoot mine, but it's big blue pearl and not sure it would match exactly...I will check before ordering one.....
Thanks all.

Suppose you order online and it arrives with a blemish (I know, not HD paint!)...

The box it comes in is over the max size for a regular package in terms of girth. So, if you had to ship it back, you're looking at about $75. I talked to the same dealer about it as well, and ordered from my local dealer. In my case, I'm glad I did. HD recycled my paint name, and my fairIng came in as the new color, not my color. I lost not a cent for the entire transaction.

And any good painter should be able to match your paint, especially if you buy the paint from HD.
