Let me add this.....your tape will have been off for awhile now, with several coats of paint on the motor/tape. Take your time removing the tape, have a razor blade, exacto knife,or something similar and cut at the area where th tape meets the metal. You may not have to do this everywhere but there's a chance you could lift paint off the metal when removing the tape. Also try pulling the tape in a backwards motion as opposed to pulling/lifting it straight up.
Let us see the finished jewel!

Doing the fins is some kinda tedious. Good thing I'm used to lacquer/paint thinner. It's far from just wiping it off. it takes some elbow grease and time. I guess that's a good thing.

I'd seriously consider doing the pinstripe taping to avoid this. I've got a good couple hours on this side.

left side fins done...this is by far the worst part of doing this. Getting the paint off the fin edges only is a chore.
I got some corrosion spots on the jug fins that needs attention in the morning. 1000 grit should fix that. Head fins look great.
I'm gettin antsy to pull the tape.

Ok, here it is. Nothing polished yet but everything came out great. No pulls or missed spots. You can surely see ANY amount of oxidized aluminum now.

Time to polish and reassemble.

It looks about the same as my factory job. Are you satisfied with the color now? You were thinking it was a bit to gray before. If it were mine, I'd be pretty happy with the results.

It looks darker when compared to the shiny parts...contrast makes the difference more dramatic. This needs to be known to those that do this and have my reaction when it is still masked up.

I'm good with it. Beats the pants off the silver on a black bike.

Good work. Far from a hack job.

Default paint

Awesome results, if I didnt have any oil sweating between the trans/engine at the top I would be doing this too.
