I fill it as close to full as I can while trying to get a rounded dollar amount on the pump.
Just makes life easier.

That extra 1/2 gallon has never been worth the time or the mess for me. When it clicks off I'm done, just like the car.

That extra half gallon saved me from walking/pushing about 10 miles once. I planned on filling up along the route at a store that I knew about but hadn't been by for a few years. It was closed so I continued on with the wife on back. I knew gas was about 50 mi ahead and the remaining miles said 80something. We made it to the next station and I put 5.75 gallons in the tank. My remaining miles counter lied to me. I didn't remember that road being so desolate.

I fill it to the brim almost every time around home. On the road, not so much because I'm not sure of where gas is and I don't want to get caught like that again.

I only put like 4.3 gallons in because my bladder will only let me go 175 miles.
I mean...why have extra gas in there? Thats just crazy. The weight of that extra unneeded 1.8 gallons just weighs down my bike and affects my gas mileage. No I swear. For reals.

Man, if you guys are close to pushing your bikes with a 6 gallon tank, what did you do years ago, pack gas. Some people are just destined to run out of gas, I think.

I fill mine as high as I can with it on the center stand. Most of the pumps I use are a pita though. They don't pump smoothly and it comes flying out. Occasionally I find a smooth pump and can really fill it. I hate when it comes out to fast and splashes.

I have about 1/2 million miles under my belt dating back to 1971 and have never run out of gas but have filled to the brim every time, old habits die hard I guess.

Yes, you couldn't have said it better "SILLY Q" You should find a 7 gallon tank & that way you don't have to fill it to the BRIM

Gas expands with heat so why would you fill the tank to the brim. For the guys that are storing their bike, why would you fill it all the way up. Gas goes bad unless you use stabil. All you need is a little over a half so condensation doesn't build up in the tank while in storage.
