Installed the 2014 A version last night on my 09 Heritage. I did put the older SE version on 2 years ago & there was quite a racket coming from the primary. To my surprise it looked perfect with no metal shavings to be found but I changed it anyway. It was a piece of cake & the glue in funnel was simple. I finished late, about 3 hours total install, and I took it for a very short ride this morning before work. All seems right & the clunk in first wasn't there. No unusual noises at all. I'll wait until I put a few miles on & I will update it here.

BTW, anyone want a used 2013 version with about 3000 miles on it cheap? 40274-08A (30041-08 Alternator rotor assembly not included. Pat #12 which may not be needed if its a 2011+

Save it or atleast the smallest cone washer. Some who have had the 2014 comp go weak have added 1 small spring washer to stiffin it back up.

This is what I found when I open the primary on my 2007 Fatboy with 60,000 miles on it..... In the process of doing the SE upgrade now.

And lo & behold....starting to see some complaints about 2014 Tour bikes having comp problems. I can't believe MOCO can't get this fixed. Oh...& they won't admit that there is a compensator problem either now...or in past models by the way.

Default 2014 compensator

I just did this install on my 2012 Limited , 2014 compensator kit, and was tired of seeing metal shavings in the oil so I polished both surfaces that come in contact on the compensator , the sprocket spokes and the ramps. Polished them till they were smooth and almost shiny thinking it would cut down on the gouging of one another and work smoother. I just changed the primary oil and after 4,000 miles there was nothing but an anti-seize type material on the magnet and less than normal, and both polished surfaces looked like the day I installed them, no gouging what so ever and could hardly notice or see where they come in contact and also no wear at all on the inside of the spokes at the contact point. I use Mobil 1 20/50 and I am very pleased with what seems to be at least for now an improvement on the compensator problems and wear. Sorry was in hurry and no pics, but I will take them next time which should be in another 5,000 miles and see how it looks. Just wanted to add that to the thread.

Potato_Potato, everything else inside looks real good. Surprised all that metal inside the primary didn't do any damage to anything else.

I got 2 Questions
1. How long does it take to dry the 2-parts adhesive? Instruction said 30 mins, is it long enough?
2. Do I need special socket? The instruction mentions T70 socket, bolt looks different than your pic shown. Is mine a newer design? My part # 42200064a they said 42200064 has been superseded.

Thanks! Alex
