What did you do to your bagger today?
Thanks to maxxym and NorthWestern for the tip. Put the DK wings on tonight. Going to try it with the dog dish and without. See if I can tell any difference. 😎
Well I just about cried as I looked at it sitting there on the patio, seemingly pouting, under its cover, and the thermometer behind it was reading 106* !
just too dang hot to ride here in Az. right now.
I just bought it 6 weeks ago, (my first HD), and have fallen in love with it... and now I can't ride it !
Grrrrr!
Maybe it will stop pouting,
if I buy some more accessories for it ? ? ?

Cooling vests
Thanks for the replies, Yeah I've got one of the cheaper types purchased at Cycle Gear for about $40-45 that works pretty well for what it is.
I think it's called a "Seneca" brand (?).
Its quilted breathable material that supposedly has the gel water beads quilted in.
you soak it for about 10-15 minutes and wring it out a couple of times , hang it for a few minutes... and it will keep you cool for a good 2-3 hour ride.
Yeah you get a TINY BIT damp on your tshirt, but it actually is quite welcomed when it's over 90* ,
(and soon to be 115*+),
(and sometimes only 4%‐10% humidity) !
This place will literally suck the fluids right out of you.
you soon learn to keep your Water bottle within reach at all times !
And now, we are just entering into Monsoon Season, where it can be 114* of Burning Sunshine,
and in a matter of 15-20 minutes the sky's turn black, the lightning is like a disco strobe light, the GRAPE SIZED RAINDROPS are coming at you sideways in a 50-60-70 mph wind.
Its "Batten Down The Hatches Boys" !
Then in 15-20 minutes it's gone, and when you go outside it looks like a bomb went off, and the street is now a River !
Gotta Love it here !
but I'll still WHINE about not getting to play with my new best friend!
LOL ! (a little bit)
But back to the heat issue,
I'm more concerned about How QUICKLY and How Hot, the bike, (and the OIL) gets here,
at this time of year. If you're not rolling, its not cooling . Oil temps can easily "Go North" of 275* here Very quickly.
I have been trying to do some homework on oil coolers and will start a separate thread on that to get some of the more experienced opinions on those.
Ride Smart, Ride Safe !
Cheers

Oil temp...
What's the normal temp range when running in summer? Mine goes to around 300-310 under a load with two riders. Stop & go runs it up to as high as 335 plus. Anyone?
And people wonder why I choose to stay in this state. High temp yesterday was about 85*, and if thats not cool enough, I can be at the coast in 30 min where its around 65*. We have issues here, no doubt, but decent riding weather isn't one of them.
Back to the vest. I have the Sedici cooling vest also. Yes it does get you wet, but that is less of a concern in high temps. I used mine last July, on my ride to Red Lodge Mt. Temps around the Sacramento area were 109*F. What I would do is carry a one gallon ziploc bag. In the morning, before taking off, I put the vest in the bag and fill with water. I let it sit for about 5 min and pour most of the water out, but still leave it soaked. I place the vest in a saddlebag and start off. Keep in mind, on that trip I was on the road at 6am each day. I could ride until about 11am before it got hot enough to need the vest. Then I pulled over, took the vest out, dumping the excess water, and wringing out the vest. Not exactly how the instructions stated but it worked for me.
Also they do not recommend using a mesh vest with it, and recommend a vented jacket instead. The mesh jackets actually dry them out too quickly. I only had a mesh jacket on that trip so I can't compare. When that vest was wet, it cooled, period.

Yeah, I am done with riding when it hits triple digits. It was 115 this time last year, so we are fortunate for the late arrival of summer this year. I would rather ride when its 40, and I do ride usually until late October. I rode all the time years ago in the heat, I just hate it now
