Monday I bought a low mile 09 Ultra, yesterday transferred the title (can we say jump through that hoop).
Today I hope to get the chance to clean/detail it. It has cob webs and dust in all the places a "quick' wash did not remove (previous owner).
I am also looking at gutting the CAT's (need to verify the exact location, as my old bike/bikes did not have them).
Next week it goes in to have the seat cut down (I am height deficient).
I was looking at the Ultra Lows but it was not in the budget and I feel I couldn't go wrong with this 09. I will get a Low once I put some miles on this one.
You can take off the "gutting the cat's" from your todo list. The 09s do not have cat's. New frame but not the cat's. Good year to buy a used tourer.

[QUOTE=One caveat. microfiber picks up EVERYTHING. They're like little crap magnets......[/QUOTE]
Ditto. I put a deep scratch the length of my saddlebag from picking something up with them. Just like washing a car, start at the top and work down to the bottom. I have garnered more unwanted practice at paint/clearcoat touchups, wet sanding and buffing/polishing due to scratches. No need to add to the ordeal by careless use of or the unsuspecting pickup ability of microfiber towels.

Thanks beammeup
I was under the impression the extra heat was from the cat.
Is it just the differences between the 88 (01) and the 96 (09)?
My 01 runs a lot cooler, maybe its the carb vs FI?

Today was wash, clay bar, wax/polish about 5 hours worth.
The color pop's a lot more now, I think I got rid of all the cob webs and dust. I still need to do the wheels and tires, all they got was a wash.

Just finished up putting SE Compensator and Hayden M6 tensioner, In my 13 SG, 8000 miles and its was already clanging, and didn't even need to take the clutch pack off to do it, stock one didn't look to bad to me but it's fixed now, I hope, still need to test ride it.

Stock one.

Added extended saddlebags, an Arlen Ness fender extension (which doesn't match my non arlen ness bags unfortunately), screw on bag bolts, and RJ's heat shields today.

Can you share a straight on pic of the fender extension? I'm considering getting one, and I have CVO bags, curious to how they would match up.

Reset my alarm security code. The bike only came with one fob so I was checking into the system. While doing so I read that a lot of people don't reset the pass code put in by the dealer.
Sure enough this bike was set to the standard number HD is know for using.

I think more people would if it wasn't so %$#@ hard to enter a code. Why it has to be so complicated and involved is beyond me.
