2011 Electra Glide exhaust heat issue

I have a 2011 glide and I have to tell you if I had known that the right side heat from the exhaust was this bad I would have stuck to my 84 evo bagger. Has anyone done any mods that reduce the heat? I am planning a stage 1 upgrade after the first service so I need some advice!

Get rid of the cat and you'll get rid of the heat. I went with VH True duals with my stage 1 and it solved the heat problem immediately.

I guess that is what people are doing...my RKC is stock, and I don't think it is bad... maybe the lowers on the EG make a difference.

I have straight fish tales on my 84 and I have to admit they are annoying on long rides. I figured the Cat was the cause. Today it was 80 and I was doing 80 on I4 but my leg was fried! How loud are the True Duals and have you ever heard the Power dual with V&H mufflers? Also did you use the Fuel pack?

Not bad on my '11 FLHTCU, nowhere near as bad as it was on my '08.

Mine runs just as cool or cooler than my 2006 Road Glide. Get rid of the cat, free up the A/C, and get a tuner. I think the stock exhuast is good without the cat, and get rid of the stock A/C.:icon_moped:

If you remove the cat, would you need to retune? Would it make it run leaner without retuning?

It'll run like crap if you don't retune it.

Replaced the stock head pipe with Power Duals, eliminating the cat in the process.
Replaced the stock a/c with a PM Super Gas.
Replaced stock mufflers with Monster Ovals.
Loaded a new map with my SE Pro Super Tuner.
Installed a Crotch Cooler.
Keep the vents wide open on the lowers (and will until November).
Still have a fair amount of heat on the right side when not moving. In daytime traffic the heat is downright nasty (combined ambient temperatures here in the desert + what is generated by the 103).
Next step is to get it tuned.

My 2010 FLHTC only got hot like that on the right side if I was sitting in traffic, other than that it was warm but tolerable. I just did a stage 1 upgrade (left the stock header pipes and cat in place) and also added the HD mid frame air deflectors. The combination did make a difference.
