I have a 2011 glide and I have to tell you if I had known that the right side heat from the exhaust was this bad I would have stuck to my 84 evo bagger. Has anyone done any mods that reduce the heat? I am planning a stage 1 upgrade after the first service so I need some advice!
I have straight fish tales on my 84 and I have to admit they are annoying on long rides. I figured the Cat was the cause. Today it was 80 and I was doing 80 on I4 but my leg was fried! How loud are the True Duals and have you ever heard the Power dual with V&H mufflers? Also did you use the Fuel pack?
Mine runs just as cool or cooler than my 2006 Road Glide. Get rid of the cat, free up the A/C, and get a tuner. I think the stock exhuast is good without the cat, and get rid of the stock A/C.
Replaced the stock head pipe with Power Duals, eliminating the cat in the process.
Replaced the stock a/c with a PM Super Gas.
Replaced stock mufflers with Monster Ovals.
Loaded a new map with my SE Pro Super Tuner.
Installed a Crotch Cooler.
Keep the vents wide open on the lowers (and will until November).
Still have a fair amount of heat on the right side when not moving. In daytime traffic the heat is downright nasty (combined ambient temperatures here in the desert + what is generated by the 103).
Next step is to get it tuned.
My 2010 FLHTC only got hot like that on the right side if I was sitting in traffic, other than that it was warm but tolerable. I just did a stage 1 upgrade (left the stock header pipes and cat in place) and also added the HD mid frame air deflectors. The combination did make a difference.
