Both me and my wife use HCI 100 Half Helmet in Gloss Black with Visor removed to stop buffeting.

That is my point. I would add that head injuries, which can be VERY expensive, may give momentum to calls for 'prevention', as in not riding motorcycles at all, or defraying social costs by carrying a huge amount of insurance for example. That is what I don't want to happen.

Sure I do.

Do your 'facts' break down injuries by head injuries vs. blunt force trauma in highway speed accidents. Do they consider 'dead' is 'dead' or is an autopsy performed to determine cause of death in every case? And do they include the number of riders that crash while wearing a helmet and are able to get up and ride, or at least walk, away vs. the number of riders that instead experience a life changing/ending event?

Do they follow the lives of head injury recipients for years/decades to understand how their lives are/were affected? Probably not because those figures are impossible to compile. Another benefit/consideration in helmet use is that before reaching 'highway speeds' most riders spend most of their time riding at a slower speed, wouldn't you agree?

So even if helmets are useless at high speeds, since the vast majority of most rider's time is spent at less then 'highway speed', are effects at 'highway speed' a real consideration?

I change about every 2-3years. Historically, I have always worn police style half's but slipped a outlaw shorty in for a few years. I'm sporting a 3/4 now with a bubble and dabbling with a FF once and awhile for long highway rides.
Trying to work my way up to a modular maybe.

Then what is Amendment X of the Bill of Rights then? Anyway, I feel more comfortable with a helmet on, just like I feel more comfortable with a seat belt on.

Oh, my helmet is carbon fiber gray... both the half and full.

So is it same to assume if the powers that be want riders to wear helmets then those idiots who drive smart cars at 80+ mph should wear a helmet too? Or are they exempt?
