Default Any downsides to a painted inner fairing (11 Ultra Ltd).

Thinking about getting a painted inner fairing on my 11 Ultra Ltd Red/Merlot. Is there any downsides to the painted inner? Glare? Just dont wanna miss something.

Also, I can choose either color, the red or the merlot.......opinions?

Thanks in advance.

Any painted inner fairing I have seen looked really good. Can't tell you about glare but I would do it if I had a fairing. Someday....

Only downside would be having to constantly field praises for the improved look of the gauge bearing area.

Glare has not been a problem for me ever. Surfaces are pretty vertical for the most part so there is very little reflection if any at all.

As for color, if you can swing it I'd either have the painter do a combo of both colors proportionate to their surface area on the rest of the bike or if cost is an issue I'd go with the less prominent color and use it on the inner almost as an accent color.

(See my sig pic below for a different way to go. Inner fairing is all I had painted with the skull motif)

No problems. You will get more glare from an oncomming car windshield

After painting mine, I opted to go without clearcoat to reduce glare.
Just put a good coat of wax on it and all is good.
Now I get to see more of the cobalt blue I like

I would like to have mine painted but I would like something more of a matte black (think Denim) with a texture to go along with it. I saw a website of a company who offered that paint scheme at one time but I haven't been able to find it since. Maybe someone here knows something...

My last bike was flame blue pearl, I'll be honest I found it really hard on my eyes on really sunny days. I opted to leave the bike I have now the flat black. It looks real sharp though when painted, no argument there! It's a personal preference, if my bike was black or dark red, etc I'm sure it wouldn't bother me. Hope this helps!

If you get it done make sure you post some pics, my SG is same colors and I have been kicking it around also, I'm not real fond of the all merlot bikes so I don't know if I would want the inner fairing all that color, two tone would be sweet but oh the possibilities.

I am considering having mine done. A guy post on Craigslist in Daytona,St.Augustine,Jacksonville that he will sell and install a factory color for $300.00. Says he can do an install in an hour. If you are going to Bike week or Biketoberfest may be worth looking at. I will check him out this Oct.

Ride safe
