gotta pick a cam for the end port /polish, and comp ratio. S&S 510 is great stock drop in but not if he's gonna get heads done. which is the basic same as a woods 6, I would go woods 6 high lift or S&S 585's

The Andrews 21 is an outstanding cam for a 88 motor, and it pulls hard from around 2k-5k. Do the cam kit and get rid of those old chain tensioners, and replace the inner cam bearings while you're in there too.

Andrews makes an equivalent cam for the 96", the 21 H.

Default Cam Experiences

I have experience with the Kuryakyn TC2G and the Woods TW6. My 01 Night Train had the TC2G's along with a 10.5-1 95" kit and a Thunderheader. It made 98hp and 109tq. That bike ripped! The Woods cams were in my 05 Heritage while it was an 88. They felt great! Then I went to a 10-1 95" kit and Thunderheader. I got 89hp and 102tq. That bike was alot of fun to ride as well. I now have a 2010 Street Glide with a PCV and Supertrapp exhaust and I'm leaning towards the Woods 555's. Fuel Moto has some great dyno pics on their web site and they've been awesome to deal with. My Brother in law just put a set of HQ 0034's in his 06 SG and loves them! Not sure of the numbers but he said it made a big difference!

+1 for the Andrews 21 in my stage 1 88" motor. Replaced the tensioners with the updated hydraulic set up and added the cams.

All I can say is that for a touring bike these cams totally wake up the torgue in this motor for everyday riding. I don't race so anything above 4,500 rpm or so is a non factor. But I did just get back from 7 days in the Rocky Mountains and the motor pulled like a bulldozer...fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.

And for those who say a CV carb is no good at altitude...BS. My CV carb did not miss a beat with all the other FI bikes in the group all the way up to 12,000 ft. I love my carb...and my new Andrews 21 cams!

My brother has the SE-204 in his 96" Dyna Street Bob. It lopes like a **** at idle and sound great. It has some nice torque on the street too.

My RKC has an S&S 510G in it. Its now a 95" bike with stage 2 heads. When cold it has some chop to the idle and even off idle. It sound pretty cool with the chop, chop, chop sound. Once it warms up the idle smooths out some.

Both run nice on the street. Obviously I spend more time with the 510G and my bike. I think both of us are satisfied with our cams. Personally I'd give the performance edge to the S&S 510G cam but the sound of the SE-204 is tough to beat.

This winter my Ultra will have the FM107 kit in it so I'll be able to tell you about the TW-555 cam!

Good luck.

if you use the s&s 551 , when you raise comp , they help by being comp realease cams. nice low to mid range effort put forth by these grinds. comp does make a nice diff.
