Bad battery? Check my math...

I think they said two years (even on the battery).
And yes - All back to normal. It read a little low at first (expected that with a "factory charge"). Right when it was put in, it read just over 10 volts. By the time I got home, a little higher. After an hour or so on the expressway, it's all good.

Different situaation but, I work on Taxi Cabs and have had many come in with meter/printer problems. My first question, Will it print with the engine running?
If yes, I check the battery voltage with my meter. It normally reads 10.something volts. Start the car and it goes to 13.8/14.5.. DEAD CELL!
New battery and problem solved.
It amazes me that 10 volts will start the car fine but not power the printer in a taxi meter.

Had the same experience two weeks ago. Before you jump to conclusions try what I did. First, the battery must be tested at its terminals for proper readings. All I did to solve my problem was to clean and tighten the main battery terminals. My mult-meter read 12.75 at the battery even though the dash meter read 10.5. Once the terminals were fixed the meter went up to just under 12v. (Don't forget about the draw from lights, etc.) Have patience. Clip all the wire ties on the frame. Expose the battery and do a thorough job. You'll save yourself $ and grief.
