batwing to shark nose

I now have just over 60K miles on this bike - I have ridden Coast to Coast three times - two as EG and one as RG - ridden in ALL kinds of wind/rain and hail.. for me, I really do not see all the much difference > again, thats me... The strongest cross winds I ever road in was leaving Winslow, AZ on the morning of April 15, 2009 -
10:56 AM 60.1 °F - 26.1 °F 27% 29.52 in 9.0 mi South 43.7 mph 58.7 mph N/A Clear
Sustained at 43.7 and gust at 58.7
Why am I telling you this... Well, that morning I was riding two up with the wife and for me, this was hell on two wheels.. I was doing my best to maintain 45mph and hitting my flashers when I saw trucks coming up.. (this lasted only for 2 hours, thank God)... While I was holding my own at 45, I kept looking in my side mirrors.... Low and behold, I saw a biker coming up at a pretty good clip.... as he passed, he did a quick wave and it was a BAT Wing HD.... and I was on my RG... He looked just fine > seems he had a little me experence with wind than me... If he can ride at that speed with those winds,, I am convinced in the right hands the EG is just fine...

I dig Roadlides but after many miles on Sharks and Bats the supposed inherant stability of the Sharks didn't impress me,neither did the handling.
What the Shark will do moving forward is cut through the air with less over-all drag, resulting in better gas milage.

What people don't think about but I know I experienced when I used to own a RoadGlide is that in Strong Crosswinds the side profile of the Sharknose represents a plenty of surface area that noticeably catches a lot of wind.

Both bikes are good, all depends on what YOU like

I just traded my 06 EGC for an 11 RGC. Went out today with winds in the 20's and would say the RG handles the wind slightly better from all angles, not by much though. The main reason for my switch was the fairing being forward gives me a little more room and the stock bars work much better for me being 6'03. Both are great bikes and I might own a batwing again but not a SG as those are a dime a dozen round here.

I rode both in late 2009 (2010 models) and when I got ready to trade in my Dyna, I went with the Road Glide. I could not tell any difference in the wind buffering until I hit the interstate and passed semi-trucks, but the difference was minimal, the selling factor for me was the comfort, the Road Glide just fit better (although I still think it is uglier the homemade sin, but it is growing on me).

Without question the Roadie cuts through the wind way better. Like a damn freight train. Obvious reason is the frame mounted fairing vs. fork mounted, wind can 'flutter' the batwing a little, but not the shark nose.
I have each, and of the same year. Ride'em back to back often <used to at least ;-(> and the difference is big.
