Too much fussin for me. Do have a inhertited J S jack but still, just on the centerstand while on the floor, down on a piece of carpet and out comes the plug and drainpan sucks it all up.
Right or wrong....at least you are putting some time in thinking of a way to overcome obstacles. A lot of people have money to burn so they would rather pay someone else. Its kind of a messy job, but I always do my own fluid changes. I also go out of my way to buy the fluids and filter from any place other than the stealerships. Sooner or later enough Harley owners will do this and they will realize they have to compete for business. I buy nothing but used bikes and used parts and couldn't be happier (with the exception of fluids, filters and tires of course. My last set of tires I bought from a Yamaha dealer cuz the install was half the price of the HD stealerships. Strangely enough the Yamaha dealer sells Harley Davidson Dunlops).
I just put mine up on this. Works like a charm. My buddies kid thought he was big stuff when we made a big deal about putting a tire on his mini bike. Even had him a root beer while we "wrenched" on it.
go to the Dealer and get that fancy black & orange low profile oil pan and it holds the waste oil for transport to the back yard I mean oil disposal station!
Apparently somebody has their own personal toxic waste dump in the backyard..........
I'm hoping you did more than just the fluid change for the 1k mile service. There is a whole list of things in the service manual that are suppose to be checked. I did my fluids and took it to the dealer for the rest. Cost me $167 dollars and the peace of mind knowing it's documented.

yep went threw the "check list" per service manual!
