Chirping is almost always a belt issue

I know that diagnosing noises is hard especially if you are not hearing it yourself. I tried the search function first but it is not working for me right now.

The bike is an 06 Ultra with 56k on the clock.
I know exactly what you're talking about. I had that same noise on my old Fatboy untill the service manager at the dealership gave me the fix. It's called "poly oil" made by Harley Davidson. It comes in a tube and is a clear grease. Just put a VERY SMALL amount rubbed on at 3 -4 locations of the rear drive belt. I did this once and 20,000 miles later still no chirps. And no ill effects on the belt. Cheap fix, give it a try.

I'd almost put money on it being a loose belt.

Roamin iron beat me to it. Poly-oil on the side of the belt. Chirping gone.

I didn't think you were supposed to put anything on the drive belts. I never have on any of my bikes.

Yep, uh huh, that'd be it.

Today's plan is to double check the belt tension and get some poly oil.

Just came in from the garage and the belt was very loose. I thought about it and realized the dealer put on my rear tire last month instead of me doing it like normal. I will give it a test ride later this morning and let you know if I have to get the poly oil.

I would raise hell with the dealer over that. No way they should change tires and not reset the correct belt tension.

Soos was the first to get it right. After tensioning the drive belt properly the chirp is gone. Thanks for the info, I was automatically thinking the worse as that is normally what I have to deal with rather than a simple fix.
