No it isn't. It's because high-draw accessories like tire inflators, vacuums, etc. will blow the fuse.
We're both right, things hitting the tank and things blowing stuff, imho!
Carry-on!

I teach the MSF courses several times a month and tank lock on the extended weave and limited space maneuver area (u-turn box) exercises. I tend to also lock when turning just before parking. If it is possible, its best to inform IMO.

I have my portable XM radio powered off the cig lighter. I just tapped into the wires on the back, inside the fairing. The connectors are standard 1/4" spades. I cut off the factory ones, replaced them, and put 1 extra wire in each to power the XM. I don't use the cig lighter for anything else.

Used the cig lighter for 4 years now on GPS and phone charger not issues. Just don't use too long of plug and hit the tank with it. That could cause problem. The Cig lighter fell out on mine as I guess the GPS plug loosened it up.

I thought this was only a problem with the Road Glides

would a rubber plug like one from a car or trucks power point work instead of the lighter to keep the point clean and dry when not in use?
