Also went with the Wildones 12.5 502's. I love them but in retrospect I think the 14's would be perfect.

But I due get some hand protection from the fairing withthe 12.5 where with the 14's the would be out in the wind.

The Heritage style bars are definitely an improvement over the stock bars (I know, I had a set) But they are just a temporary replacement till figure you figure out there just not quite enough. The problem is you are not going to get to where you want with out replacing cables brake lines and wiring. Your not going to get there with the stock cables and lines.

I'll ask a few simple questions.

Are you leaning forward any at all to reach your handle bars. If you are your back is going to hurt.

Do you have any bend in your arms when setting normally on the bike. If you don't your going to suffer fatigue.

After riding an hour or so do you have any pain in you shoulders or between the shoulder blades. This is usually grip angle and/or grip separation, the Heritage bars are to narrow.

Here's another simple test, get the bike to sit upright. sit on the bike, get comfortable and close your eyes. Now put hands out in front of you in a comfortable position, now open your eyes and see where your hands are in relation to your current handle bars.

On a final note, before you ever tackle the handle bars get the lower half of you body comfortable. The seat will dictate where the handle bars need to be.

Here's a before and after, Heritages in the first and Wildones 12.5 in the second. I could use 2 more inches

Nice read tex, so far my bars are good comfort wise. I mainly went this route cause i ain't got the dough to change out my cables, plus my wife has a 48 with the stock bars, which are goin to be replaced sometime this year with the mini apes that shes gettin christmas morning. She needs em worse than me!! By me puttin these on the king it frees up the money for the new cables for her. I guess its a sacrifice i'm willing to endure, it'll pay off in the end IMO.

Heres a pic of how i "fit" the new bars. Slight bend in my elbows and about shoulder height
