Well at least you got it out of the way early.

I put my first scratch on day one, dragged a boot across the lid. Buffed it out and moved on.

Cool a chance to exercise my oneupmanship. How bout a brillo pad wrapped up in the rag in the wash bucked, first wash after the first ride after I picked it up from the dealership. Took a nice big scrubbing swipe across the full width of the fairing before I found the brillo pad. World class scratch right there, took a whole lot of buffing to hide it. Best bet is to just grab a hammer off the bench and smack the fender soon as you bring it home, get it out of the way so you can get on to enjoying the machine.

The first one is always the worst. Mine was about the same age when I noticed a little "door ding" type of dent on top of my tank. It is very small but drives me INSANE! I have to see it every time I ride. Gots to find a good PDR tech.

Many of the PDR techs also do scratch repair. May see about getting a quote for your scratch.

Default Don't Paint It!

A white scratch is the top clear coat only. You shouldn't be painting color on it! Try buffing out with a good scratch / swirl remover first! These type of scratches can usually be buffed out.
