Doubt the law will bother you unless you earn an interview with them. On the other hand the local HOG chapter has a safety officer who is also a retired state police officer. He along with others was invited to a safety presentation by the NYSP. During the meeting the statement was made that the biggest items the SP would be observing was mufflers without a noticable bulge to accomadate baffles and helmets without an outer circumference that would accompany a DOT approved helmet. I've never talked with anyone who was stopped under these pretenses, maybe it was all bs. Enjoy your ride anyways.

Thanks for the info
We don't ride crazy so should not be a problem. Thanks for the heads up on exhaust. Not stock but not too loud.

NY does do some profile stops of all bikes to look for anything to give out tickets. This usually happens when something big is going on like the route to Laconia, Americade, Harley Rendezvous etc. They will give you a ticket for Non-Dot. I used to wear the non-dots but Now I have a HD carbon fiber that I actually like to wear. I have also been told that if a unfortunate spill does happen and you are not wearing a DOT helmet the INS dosen't have to pay. A few friends have bit the bullet lately that I knew even with the helmet on, and it made we go with dot a few yrs ago. just my opinion. Jeff

No helmet law in CT either... As stated, don't draw attention and you'll be fine.

I know that some states have a serious fine for those who "fly" a DOT sticker on a non Dot helmet. That being said, as others have stated, don't be a jerk and you should be okay.

Werd... Better to rock a novelty and get caught than a novelty with a fake DOT sticker. MUCH Better!!!

Helmets are required in VT, and non dot helmets with dot stickers doubles your fine. Like said b4 dont act like an a$$clown and you be all set.
