My install process
installed new cam bearing. Installed ev27 cam with original cam gear and a .065" shim (.013" endplay). Put new lifters (soaked in oil for a day) into blocks and installed. The installed 24tpi adjustable pushrods. I brought a lifter to the top and then installed and adjusted the opposite lifter. Ex front intake lifter to top, installed and adjusted rear intake lifter. hand tight to remove lash then 3 full turns per instructions. Did this to all 4 pushrods. I did not have to wait for new lifters to bleed down after tightening pushrods (after adjusting I could still twist rods by hand) but I waited 15mins between each just to be safe.

Any ideas on what to check?
You need to let it run so the lifter can pump up soakef in oil or not when you adjust they bleed down

I had the same thing...I think anyway. I had a loud ticking/tapping after I installed my 255s. Turned out to be my pushrods were not adjusted correctly. I readjusted and it's quiet now. I bet that's what you need to do.

I had the very same problem on my Evo when lifters were changed, caused by poor lifter priming. I had soaked them overnight as you did and one of them clattered like crazy. Take an oil gun and shoot oil into the side or top hole until it comes out the other end. That worked for me and is now SOP every time I remove or replace lifters.

I re adjusted the pushrods last night, and cranked the motor a few times with out plugs to help move the oil. Started up and the tapping is gone. I think there might be a very minimal ticking but that could also just be the difference in the cam. I will stop by my indy sometime and see if he thinks it is normal. Runs a lot better. I could feel the difference. Thanks!

All's well that ends well. Glad you found the problem. By the by, which brand of pushrods did you use? Thanks

they were v-thunder adjustable push rods. On ebay I got a package which was a slightly used ev27, new torr bearing, new lifters, and new push rods for $150. So with the gasket kit I have just over $200 in the cam upgrade.
